About This Video
They say a certain nobleman had a servant of extraordinary beauty. The master loved him deeply, not in passion alone, but with a sincere affection and a sense of loyalty. One day, the master said to a friend, “It’s such a pity. With all his beauty and grace, this servant cannot hold his tongue. He speaks too freely, sometimes even rudely.” The friend smiled and replied, “My dear friend, once you confess love for someone, don’t expect obedience. When affection enters the heart, between lover and beloved, all talk of master and servant disappears.” Saadi ends the tale with these verses: When the master plays and laughs with his moon-faced servant, it’s no wonder the servant commands, and the master bears his whims like a slave.
